A Viewer Speaks

WE GET A good group of commenters here in Sticksville. Lately, we've been hearing quite a bit from a young woman from the Prairies, who has an openminded attitude toward Canadian shows, and an engaged and passionate way of defending them. On the subject of all the changes going on at the CBC, I think she's expressed the necessary corrective point of view better than Richard Stursberg, Kirstine Leyfield, or anybody else at the public broadcaster has managed to do. So I'm bumping her comment here

Yanks Don’t Understand Watson’s Take On Farnsworth

Sun, 20 Apr 2008 05:50:41 PDT
Via George King: Even though they watched Kyle Farnsworth’s first pitch to Manny Ramirez on Thursday night at Yankee Stadium fly behind the Red Sox slugger’s head, the Yankees were stunned that baseball’s top cop, Bob Watson, yesterday suspended the right-handed reliever for three games. “I am surprised by it,” GM Brian Cashman said before last night’s 6-0 loss to the Orioles at Camden Yards. “Other than that, we will wait for the appeal process. I don’t agree with it.” Manager Joe Girardi

CBC: It’s a “bungle”! No it’s a “blunder”! Hang on: it’s a “gaffe”! It ain’t good, that’s for sure! Just yesterday I had to update my Monday blog entry because the fair and balanced state-owned CBC Newsworld kept changing its mind about the Conservative government’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maxime Bernier, and how to officially describe his, um, verbal malfunction. On Monday I showed you how Canada’s cable news networks—the state-owned one and the citizen-owned one against which t
